Map your favourite fishing reefs, rockbars, wrecks and holes - and generate superb full colour 2D and 3D images.
All you need is a sounder/GPS that outputs NMEA data, and a laptop computer. Or just use the data logs from your sounder/GPS!
Be amazed at the structure of your local reefs and rockbars as you have never seen them before.
DrDepth generates charts/maps in a range of formats, to use in electronic format or to print out on paper.
You can combine your depth/position data with shoreline data to make a perfect map of, for example, a lake. You can export the map in a range of image formats (.bmp/.jpg/.png/.gif) and there are options to vary the style of the map and the object to be included on it.

If you will be using the map in electronic format, DrDepth can autogenerate calibration files for Fugawi and Ozi Explorer. You can also present your maps as overlays in Google Earth:
If you do not want to get your laptop computer close to the sea you do not have to. Use data logs from your instruments to create maps.
Record position+depth data on your instrument.
Transfer the data to your computer.
Import the data in DrDepth and create maps.
Export iso/contour lines that you can display on the instrument.
Examples of instruments you can use to log data ...
Lowrance/Eagle: All combined GPS/sounders with memory card slot, ie HDS, LCX, LMS and Fish Elite models. Data is recorded as sonar logs (.slg).
Humminbird: Combined GPS/sounders from the 7/9/1100 series. These units store depth in the tracklog and you also have the option to store the sonar history similar to Lowrance.
Garmin: Most Garmin marine plotters will store depth in the tracklog, if the unit has an inbuilt fish finder or if an external fish finder is connected (GSD models or NMEA 0183 fish finder of any make).
It's easy to create contours as track files that you can transfer to and display on the GPS. You can use this data as overlays on, for example, a Navionics map.

reef_usr.usr - Contours as tracks, in Lowrance .usr format.
reef_gpx.gpx - Contours as tracks, in .gpx-format, for Humminbird and Garmin.
These sample files were created from demo data that comes with DrDepth.
For Lowrance/Eagle you can also create 'proper' maps for your unit.
For Garmin you can create maps and map data in 'Polish format', which is an intermediate format
in making maps for Garmin.
DrDepth is available in Standard and BT (bottom type, bottom hardness) versions, with an upgrade option.
MAKE MONEY: If you generate good maps, North Australian FISH FINDER and NTMAG may purchase rights to publish them.
To obtain full functionality in DrDepth, you will need a licence key.

If you intend to use NMEA data, make sure that your connection to GPS/sounder works before paying for a licence.
If the connection does not work in the demo mode, it will not work any better with a licence. If you have trouble connecting to your instruments you are welcome to contact the author for help.

The licence is hardware locked, i.e. it is tied to a specific computer.
When DrDepth is started, and asks for a key, it will display an ID code. Supply this code with your payment (not needed for the BT version).

Once the payment is received, a licence key matching your computer
ID will be emailed to you. This may happen within 30 minutes, or a couple of hours, depending on availability of staff to process your order.
IMPORTANT: The key will ONLY work on the computer giving the ID code (more on keys).
