Geoff Williamson of Terrigal in NSW visited Woolianna on the Daly and
caught a barra that was choking to death during an act of cannibalism.

Geoff writes: While trolling the Daly River from Elizabeth Creek I came
across a barramundi free jumping.

It leapt about eight times then disappeared!

On my next run I observed the barra belly up in the water some 200m from
where I saw it free jumping.

The fish was obviously in serious trouble so I lifted into the boat.

It was bleeding from the gills and had a small barra wedged in it's gill
rakers.

It basically killed itself choking on it's prey!
